I thought this was so good that I’d better comment on the tracks that the meme popped into the slots

Waking Up :                     UB. Jesus - David Byrne

What a great opening for a movie, I can see it now it’s a montage. “Breathing  like humans do”

First Day At School :        die wunderwelt der technik - welle:erdbell

The translation of the title of this track is “the miracle world of the technology” I think that it does sum up my schooling, it introduced me to the world of electronics and technology  and I haven’t looked back.

Falling In Love:                 Gamma Ray Blue  - Cleaner from Venus

“I’m so in love with Gamma Ray Blue” I forgot I had this in my mp3 collection till I did this meme, the cleaner from venus were a great avant garde act. Must make a point of getting the Vinyl out and play it later.

Fight Song:                     DSMO (VNV Remix) - Front 242

Two of my favourite bands working together, I’ve had some of my best nights out and festivals  with Ronan and Mark and there is nothing like taking the Headhunters music and putting a spin on it.

Front 242 - Brussels

Prom:                                    Crazy – Aerosmith

Well  what would a movie of my life be without a Aerosmith track, yes I used to be “Rock Boy” Aerosmith, Thunder, Quire boys etc oh how I loved the guitar sound. Donnington 1994 watching Extreme getting bottled off stage, then Aerosmith came on and blew me away.

Life:                                       This Is My Hollywood - 3 Colours Red

3CR a great Newcastle band who made it, the album Pure that this track was on was stolen when I got mugged in Walker. “This is success” was the word that rang out in my head when I got my first Job in television. “Who wants  to be in Hollywood” was what rang out a few months later when the reality set in.

Mental Breakdown:           NRG: That's What You Want? - Eskimos & Egypt

Graham Moore (from Crave, Electrocide, Wisconsin Terror Project and In Virtue of Being) was the guy who introduced me to E&E with a great album that had Side A, Side B, Side C and Side DJ. NRG riff is ”Guns and Roses  O’ Sweet Child of Mine” played backwards and then a massive bass line popped over the top of it. Yes I think I was having a mental breakdown when I was listening to this, my father had just died and life was at a very low point. Somewhere I still go the first recording of “Away – Crave” which Graham record in my bedroom that song also means so much to me. “Electrocide, inside your mind, never let the lights go down on me”

Driving:                                The Same Hole As Yesterday - Autoclav1.1

Taken from Autoclav1.1’s first album by Tony Young, I’ve just started driving and this would be one messed up car journey if this was my movie, a bit scary and mood swinging. Great tune though..

Flashback:                           Citylights Remix (demo)- Revolution By Night

RBN was a band I used to play in and this was the last track they worked on before I left the band due to having too much going on at work, I was just starting a new job and things were moving forward.

Getting Back Together:       Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd

Another song Graham introduced me too, it was the first thing he taught me to play on the guitar, bar chords all the way.

Wedding:                                A Day in the Life – Beatles

The best story about a song being made ever “The beginning was based on 2 stories John Lennon read in the Daily Mail newspaper: Guinness heir Tara Browne dying when he smashed his lotus into a parked van, and an article in the UK Daily Express in early 1967 which told of how the Blackburn Roads Surveyor had counted 4000 holes in the roads of Blackburn and commented that the volume of material needed to fill them in was enough to fill the Albert Hall. Lennon took some liberties with the Tara Browne story - he changed it so he "Blew his mind out in the car."

This boy is not the marrying type.

Birth of Child:                        Forever – Bruderschaft

This song could have gone down one place but as you not allowed to cheat. Rexx Arkana’s father died of Cancer in 1999 and during the last few days that his father spirit was around on this planet Rexx wrote “Forever”. It then took some years to get the track release but it brings together some of the greatest dark wave musicians with the most powerful lyrics ever in a song. It brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Rexx’s dediiation on his website says it all.

“I  humbly dedicate this song, "Forever," to my father: Charles Richard Millhouse, 1942-1999. I am sentry to you now, until we meet again.......... “Rexx Arkana

Final Battle:                       Raverbashing - Atari Teenage Riot

From heart felt tune to one of complete noise, ATR were one of the bands I saw at the Purcell Rooms on the South Bank Centre, they  blew me away. The power the energy. Perfect for a battle. So what I’m I Rocker, Indie kid, Metaller, Goth, Raver?

Death Scene:                     Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles

I don’t know about this one but I suppose it works, it was the first song played on MTV when it launched and being a techie I live in video…..Living on Video by Trans X remember that one. Lets go down how I’ve lived in technology

Funeral Song:                    Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division

Someone has been playing with my record collection again as this one is too good, the best version of this is a “A plus D” mashup  “Love Will Tear You Apart (She Wants Revenge vs. Joy Division vs. Bauhaus)” its brilliant and if anyone wants a copy drop me a comment. I’ve never been a Goth honest, its not just about wearing black. But you try and tell the EMO kids that these days.

Remembrance Song:      Tainted Love - Soft Cell

Marc Almond is a God, this song has been killed by so many bands in the past. The pussycat dolls should be ashamed of version that they did. Some of the best versions are by Depeche Mode(it hurts to say that) and Deathline International.

End Credits:                       A Design For Life - Manic Street Preachers

I love the world of chaos and randomisation as the most perfect song and the band that mean the most to me in all my life land on the final credits. The Manics they are a band that have gone through a lot and come out the other end fighting. It doesn’t matter what people say about them, they do there own thing in the best way possible. That’s how I want to live my life. You don’t have to win ever battle as long as you know how to fight a war.

If you want to listen to any of the tracks mentioned drop a comment in and I'll see what I can do

British humbug by Mark Thomas

Did you hear the snigger as Britain complained that Iran had broken international law

It is an awkward question to ask but did anyone else hear the rest of the world sniggering?

I thought I heard it, that’s all. The sequence of events went like this: the unfortunate British soldiers were kidnapped by Iran, Britain announced that Iran had broken international law... and that was when I thought I heard a global giggle, though it could have been a snort of derision.

The US Marines are banning the wearing of large tattoos, saying they do not represent "traditional values". From Sunday, tattoos on the head or neck, or large tattoos on arms or legs will not be allowed. Marines already with the tattoos are exempt. Unit commanders will photograph and document all existing tattoos to make sure Marines do not touch them up. Dozens of Marines are reportedly queuing up at tattoo parlours to beat the deadline.

Marines have long been banned from having racist or sexist tattoos. But from 1 April, "sleeve" tattoos that cover most of an arm or leg will be banned, as will smaller half or quarter sleeve tattoos if they are visible on arms or legs when a Marine is wearing shorts and T-shirt.

It seems my blog is block from viewing in china, I suspect it's really nothing i've done. my sin is that I use a blog host (Blogware) which is probably being mass blocked.

Still, all in all a good example of how pervasively stupid and arbitrary the whole web censorship meme is.

The 007 stage at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire has been rebuilt less than a year after it was destroyed by fire, reports trade paper Screen Daily.

The structure was demolished last year after the fire caused the roof to cave in, damaging a set from Casino Royale.

Its replacement is the same size as before, but with more usable space.

A fire has swept through a Moscow nightclub, killing 10 people and injuring several others, police in the Russian capital have said.

Witnesses said the blaze broke out when a performer staging a nightly "fire show" inadvertently set his clothes alight, official said.

City prosecutors have begun an inquiry into safety at the 911 club.

It is the latest in a series of disasters that has highlighted Russia's poor enforcement of safety regulations.

Officials said first accounts suggested that the blaze broke out when a performer accidentally set his clothing on fire. Flames spread to a large container of spirits and then the nightclub's stage caught fire.

View Article  Vodafone won't recognise union
And there was me thinking about changing to Vodafone....I think I'm going to be thinking twice about that after reading this.

Vodafone is still refusing to officially recognise the Connect union, which is so keen to represent its members it has taken Vodafone to the government's Central Arbitration Committee to force recognition.

Over half the 200 people working at Vodafone's "Technology: Regional Operations North" office are already members of Connect, which means recognition can be forced on Vodafone to allow collective bargaining on pay, hours, and holiday.

Connect has been fighting for recognition since November last year, and recently went to ACAS with Vodafone in an attempt to negotiate a deal, without success.

Vodafone does not recognise unions in the UK, though its operations in Germany and Ireland do have representation. Vodafone said in a statement it has elected to "follow the statutory recognition route" - which translates as refusing to recognise any union until the law tells it it has to.

"Vodafone continues to value open and direct communication with its employees" - The key word here being "direct", as in not via collective bargaining.

Union membership in high-technology industries has, traditionally, not been very high - when employees can change jobs every month there seems little cause for collective bargining. But as the industry grows up and consolidation constrains the job market, union membership starts to look more attractive.

Connect is currently recognised by BT, O2 and Kingston Communications, though it has members at most of the comms companies, so we can expect similar disputes over the next few years. ®

I needed a compact camera to talk to gigs and have on me at all times, it was only luck that I had my big digital Canon SLR with me when the Warren Street Bomb went off, so I was looking at compact camera and looked at the Canon IXUS series and the Fujifilm E900 but in the end I thought I'd better do it properly. Every news photographer I respect at some point the classic picture was taken with a Leica. From the flaming napalm on South Vietnameseof Phan Thi Kim Phuc by the South Vietmanese to the photo take by Kevin Carter in Sudan they were all taken with a Leica, now its my time to join the Bang Bang Club.

I think the other Mr King would approve of this story that was found by Damien one of our Dev Guys. He found it on Tom's Hardware Guide. Its a classic case of the geek going too far.

"Using your laptop while driving can be hazardous to your health as one Californian man found out. The 28-year-old man died after his Toyota Corolla slammed head on into a Hummer on Highway 99 north of Sacramento. California Highway Patrol Commander Scott Silsbee told UPI that the man was probably lost control because he was typing on a laptop.

Despite the crash, the laptop was still powered on and was plugged into the cigarette lighter. The occupants of the Hummer were slightly hurt and were treated and released.
